History of Nasfat Counselling
Inception and Purpose
The Nasrul-lahi-l-fathi Society (NASFAT) was established to address the spiritual and social needs of Muslims, with a particular focus on community welfare and support. The society emphasizes the importance of guidance and counseling, particularly in addressing the challenges faced by vulnerable groups, including women, children, and people living with disabilities.
Guidance and
Counseling Committee
In September 2007, the Guidance and Counseling Committee was formed, initially referred to as the Blueprint for NASFAT Guidance and Counseling Committees. Under the leadership of Alhaja Kudirat Lamina, a team of experienced counselors developed a comprehensive manual to guide the committee’s activities. This manual has remained relevant for over 13 years, reflecting the ongoing commitment of NASFAT to adapt to the changing needs of society.
Team Efforts and Achievements
The committee’s dedication is exemplified by the collaborative efforts of counselors like Imam Ibrahim Olalekan Shodehinde and other esteemed members who contributed to the review and update of the manual. Their work underscores the importance of professional skills, commitment, and passion in delivering effective counseling services to both NASFAT members and the wider community.
Current Objectives
The committee aims to provide economic and psychosocial support services, ensuring that all clients receive memorable and beneficial experiences. Aligned with the NASFAT National Executive Council’s HEALTH, EDUCATION, LIVELIHOOD, and DAWAH (HELD) thrust, the committee actively collaborates with stakeholders at various levels to fulfill its mandate.
Ongoing Relevance
The committee continues to adapt its strategies to address the modern challenges posed by societal changes and digitalization, particularly for the youth. By offering guidance, counseling, mentoring, and support, NASFAT strives to foster a peaceful and orderly society, free from significant stress and strife
Commitment to Improvement
The ongoing review of the Guidance and Counseling Handbook demonstrates NASFAT’s commitment to remain responsive to the dynamic needs of the community. It is envisioned that this manual will serve as a vital resource for counselors, enabling them to act as change agents in their communities.
Conclusion
The NASFAT Guidance and Counseling Committee remains dedicated to supporting individuals in their personal and communal struggles, with the hope that their efforts are rewarded and accepted by Allah.
